Aesthetic Gingival Melanin Pigmentation Treatment in Smokers and Non-Smokers: A Comparison Study Using Nd:YAG Laser and Ceramic Bur

Aesthetic concerns are increasing rapidly; thus, several approaches have been suggested for treating gingival melanin pigmentation. Lasers reported as an effective new tool, and the Nd:YAG laser beam has affinity haemoglobin. However, ceramic bur is simple less bleeding effect during operation than conventional techniques. This study aimed to compare outcomes of depigmentation using in two different groups (smokers non-smokers). A total 40 patients presenting with pigmentation were enrolled this split-mouth study. The sample was divided into groups: smokers non-smokers. Treatment performed (3 W, 60 mJ/pulse, 50 Hz) a one-week interval between methods. Clinical indices recorded, including intraoperative bleeding, wound healing, post-operative pain, recurrence pigmentation, follow-up periods determined 3rd, 6th, 9th months postoperatively.
